Kilchoman Casado 2022 Release Single Malt Whisky
70cl / 46.00% - Did you know the word Casado means 'marriage' in Portuguese? A pretty appropriate name for a whisky that is aged in casks that previously held booze from Portugal, we reckon. So did Islay whisky maker Kilchoman, which took a vatting of its heavily-peated spirit and matured it for six years in 38 first-fill bourbon barrels before marrying them for a further two years in a pair of 6,000 litre Portuguese red wine vats, with char levels two and three. The 2022 release was then bottled up at 46% ABV without any additional colouring or filtration.
