Waterford Single Farm Origin - Bannow Island 1.1 Single Malt Whiskey
70cl / 50.00% - One of the first releases from the Waterford Distillery's Single Farm Origin series - behold, Bannow Island 1.1. This single malt Irish whisky (they don't spell it with the 'e') was distilled using a single vintage of Overture barley grown on the south coast of Co. Wexford by Ed Harpur on his Bannow Island farm (fun fact: Bannow Island isn't an island - it once was, but not anymore). Surrounded by the sea and grown on sandy soil, this is an excellent exploration of barley's terroir in relation to whisky. The spirit was aged in a combo of French and American oak casks, and bottled at 50% ABV with no chill-filtration or additional colouring.
