Ideally located in the heart of "Old Lyon", the World Of Miniature museum is home to the famous House of Lawyers, a building dating from the sixteenth century listed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The art of miniature art has always existed. The Egyptians themselves, 4000 years ago made thousands of miniatures that archaeologists discover today in their burials. These miniatures were made to represent the exact image of everyday life that the deceased loved: potter's studio, fishing boat, farm animals, house, and family. All these small-scale carved objects faithfully represented the things to which he was attached during his lifetime. Inhuming a person by accompanying them with these miniatures was to ensure happiness in next life. Miniatures exist in all traditions and countries of the world. Painted on ivory in China, carved in the earth in Peru, carved in the wood and enclosed in bottles in France, they serve to convey images that become strong "sense" for the human being. We open every day: Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 18:30 and Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 to 19:00, and holidays from 10:00 to 19:00. Ticket office closes one hour before the closing of the museum.
