Danny started playing guitar at the age of 9. He was a student of slack key master and teacher Ozzie Kotani, who has also taught Danny the styling of his own teacher, the legendary Sonny Chillingworth. Danny has also learned much from the music of Ledward Ka'apana, Raymond Kane, "Atta" Issacs,Gabby Pahinui. Danny has played at slack key festivals in Hawai'i since the age of 10.
