Joe Callicott, born in Nesbit, MS, spent his entire life in the area south of Memphis, and his music is part of what can be called Hernando, MS regional style. Other musicians of note from this area were Robert Wilkins, Jim Jackson, Elijah Avery and Frank Stokes. From the early '20s to the '40s, Joe recorded with musical partner Garfield Akers, and in 1930, was invited to record 2 songs, "Fare Thee Well Blues" and "Traveling Mama Blues," both included on this 12 track CD.
